The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Nigerian Army, Lieutenant General TY Buratai, addressed members of Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), a British think-tank and foreign relations experts in London. The Chief of Army Staff spoke to them on the “Current Nigerian Army Operations and the fight against Boko Haram terrorists”. The General Court Martial sitting at 7 Division, Nigerian Army in Maiduguri, Borno State has concluded the cases of 5 soldiers bordering on violation of human rights and other operational offences in Operation LAFIYA DOLE.  The Nigerian Army on Wednesday called for calm in Maiduguri after hours of shootings were heard in the outskirts of the town in the evening, resulting in panic around Damboa road, Old G.R.A.  Lt.-Col. Kinsley Samuel, the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations Department, said in a statement in Maiduguri that the situation was under control. He said “the situation in Maiduguri is under control. The public is requested not to panic but to stay calm".  

Minister of Defence, Brig.-Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali (rtd) has warned military officers against disloyalty, disobedience and insubordination to the Nigerian government. He gave the warning on Saturday during the passing out parade of officers’ cadet of Direct Short Service course at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Jaji, Kaduna. Dan-Ali warned that any personnel caught with disloyalty and similar offences would be decisively dealt with accordingly. “I wish to make it clear that the armed forces of Nigeria are also undergoing a period of self-appraisal; there is zero tolerance for indiscipline and unprofessional conduct”, he said.  The Nigerian Army had fully enlisted a total of 200 graduates, who participated in the Nigerian Army’s 2017 Direct Short Service Commission, DSSC   into the service of the Nigerian Army. Their enlistment came following their successful completion of their professional training at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Jaji, in Kaduna, Kaduna State. Out of the number, 82 of them were medical doctors out of which eight were consultants in various fields of Medicine.     Also, 26 others, according to a statement from the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Usman, were lawyers just as 21 others were Public Relations specialists.
