NIGERIAN SOLDIER KILLED IN SUDAN TODAY
A Nigerian soldier on a peacekeeping mission serving
with the African Union-UN Hybrid Operation in Darfur, (UNAMID), Sudan, has been
killed.UNAMID
announced this in a statement on Today, saying the deceased was killed by an
unknown group in a carjacking incident. Though the name of was not disclosed
UNAMID extended its condolences to the family of the late peacekeeper and also
the Nigerian government.
UNAMID has called on the government of Sudan to quickly apprehend the
perpetrators of the crime and bring them to justice.The United Nations, at a
press briefing by Stéphane Dujarric, spokesman for the secretary-general, also
confirmed the death.“We join the mission in extending our deepest condolences
to the family of the late peacekeeper, his colleagues, and the federal
government of Nigeria,” Dujarric said.
