SEE HOW YOUNG NIGERIAN AIR FORCE PILOTS STOPPED BOKOHARAM ATTACKS
NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya, who disclosed this at the weekend, said the war against the insurgents is largely been won from the air through brave efforts of the officers who are mostly Flight Lieutenants of the Airforce.
“In the past, war planes, including the heavy C-130 transport aircrafts were flown by senior officers of the rank of Air Vice Marshals (AVMs), but NAF has been modernised and there is now increased capacity in younger officers who are daily performing bombing raids on terrorist hideouts with efficiency and precision,” Adesanya said.
Most of the well-trained young pilots, including women, according to him, now fly warplanes almost 24-hours to prevent Boko Haram fighters from regrouping.
He urged the media and citizens not to sit aloof, but join the ongoing campaign to rid the country of terrorists and criminals. He particularly tasked the media to be objective in reporting NAF operations to avoid encouraging terrorists.
