NIGERIAN ARMY LAUNCHES OPERATION IN KANO TO TACKLE CATTLE RUSTLING, KIDNAPPING AND INSURGENCY
The chief of army staff, Tukur Buratai, today, has launched
Operation Harbin Kunama II in Kano to confront cattle rustling, kidnapping and
insurgency.Buratai further explained that the operation is part of the efforts made
to reduce crime.
“The measures adopted is to fast-track the issue of insurgency that have spread across the country in which the Nigerian army has been tackling, All necessary machinery to achieve the overall success of the operation is being deployed and operations are conducted in various states of the federation.” Buratai said. Also, he said he had discussed with Umar Ganduje, governor of Kano, on the modalities to curtail criminal activities in the dreaded Falgore forest and other parts of the state where hoodlums have taken control. The chief of army staff also commended Ganduje for his support of security agencies by means of donating operational vehicles to them. On his part, Ganduje restated that his administration would keep partnering with the federal government in the area of security. However, the governor said that since the Muhammadu Buhari administration came on board, the issue of terrorism is gradually becoming history.
